CCC: Canva creations

Damn, I do like these Cs, don't I...

If you have ever been on the creative/marketing/small business side of tiktok (my favourite), then you know Canva. If not, here is my take on it: it is a free digital design platform that is widely used for social media and other quick content creation. The pro (pay) version has many benefits such as being able to connect and schedule multiple social media accounts so one can post simultaneously in the right formats. But I am happy with the free stuff.

Now, to my knowledge, you cannot free-hand on Canva. However, you can upload your designs that you drew in other programs and use them. If that isn't your thing, Canva provides you with thousands of free images, elements, backgrounds, font types; and even more that you can purchase for use. It has gifs or you can animate any of the designs. It uses colour wheels AND colour codes.

So I have been having the best time of my life bringing my compositions to life. I like to call them compositions or creations as they are not my drawings. Sure, some elements of it will be part of the designs but they aren't all my handiwork, and therefore, I am reluctant to call them MY designs. It is probably the 7 years of uni work and the fear of death by plagiarism that makes me nervous. But surely, elements and drawings that are made available on the site are there to be used and distributed - I assure myself when I upload one of my creations on SM or Redbubble.

I have recently shared some of my compositions on my CCC instagram [CasaCookieCrafts (@casacookiecrafts) • Instagram photos and videos] that I made for Valentine's Day. Plus, the CCC logo was made there too! However, my very first creation on there was a logo made for my parents' Etsy shop [ PotsAndPaperUK on Etsy]. They sell handmade pottery and greeting cards, and I will be forever inspired by their talent. I have millions of their creations in my house, and I cannot remember when was the last time I gave someone a card that wasn't made by Iris. I often requested custom orders from them for my friends, and they always delivered amazing products, most times at no charge. So I wanted give something back by making a logo for them. I had the initial composition in my head and I was very lucky to find design elements on Canva free of charge that fit my plans perfectly. I worked with my parents on the final touches (I wanted to make sure they got something that they actually liked) and now it's live on their site, and I am chuffed!
